About the Variants tab

Use the Variants tab to set up your stock item variations. For example, if you sell clothing, you can set up different sizes and colours.

You create the stock variations you want to use for your stock items in the Dimensions Setup.

Before you begin

You must have:

• Set up your stock variations on the Dimensions setup window.

To add variants to your sub-class

Open: Retail > Merchandise > Merchandise Hierarchy.

1. Highlight the relevant class and click Add.

   The Add New Sub-Class window appears.

2. Select Variants.
3. Select one of the following:
   • Standard stock item. Select this if there is no variation in your stock item. The variation options are removed from the window.
   • Styles stock item. Select this to use variants in your stock item.
4. Select the number of dimensions that the sub-class has. The Which dimensions and sets area updates.

5. Select the dimensions that you are using from the drop-down lists.

   To view the dimensions available, click ?.

   If duplicate dimension types are set for an individual product group, brackets appear around the dimension names. This is to differentiate between them. For example, Size/Size becomes Size (Leg Length)/Size(Waist Size). The dimension names affect Sub-Classes and Styles in Merchandise Hirearchy and in both the Quantity breakdown on sales and purchase orders.
